Choosing a process for site welding

Sometimes, projects require specialist skills and equipment. Firstly you may be on a strict deadline that doesn’t leave you enough time. Or it might be that standard utensils simply aren’t sufficient for the job. There may also be safety concerns. Whatever the case, when it comes to mobile welders Luton has no better company supplying them than us.

Moving welding processes to site is entirely possible. However, there are those that are more controllable than others. There are several factors you must consider when selecting your own operation. We’re going to go over some of them here.

Power

The first one we’ll cover is power requirements. Conventional transformers or generators for on-site use can supply electrical power. Certain procedures demand highly sophisticated hardware for power though. You should avoid these, especially if you want to save on costs.

Wind

You also have to think about shelter to ensure protection from the wind. It’s very common for site work to become exposed to wind or draught. Both can disturb the arc shielding. You’ll want to provide shelter here. If you don’t, then you will need to use processes that aren’t as vulnerable to disruption.

Humidity

Humidity is important here as well. Welding operations vary in terms of the hydrogen levels that produce the finished weld. You’ll want a technique that’s not sensitive to the climate on site. This is especially important if it is very damp. Select welding that shall generate a lower volume of hydrogen inside your weld.

Joints

The final factor we’ll cover is the variation of weld joints. Site welding can consist of working with an array of material thicknesses as well as different joint types. Each would usually require distinct welding parameters. Equipment and procedures that are versatile and suitable for various needs are the best.

At Pronto Welding, we’ve worked for a myriad of clients. This includes industrial, commercial, and also private ones. We’ve provided all kinds of installation services for them.
